Collen Collins runs a Private Detective agency, Highlands Investigations & Legal Services, Inc., taking on everything from background checks to cheating spouses to research for criminal attorneys with her  husband Kaufman. They have been described as a pair of "lighthearted fifty-somethings". They live in northwest Denver and in addition to detective work, they have written an instruction manual for fiction authors entitled How to Write a Dick: A Guide for Writing Fictional Sleuths from a Couple of Real-Life Sleuths.
