Zach Fortier was a police officer for over 28 years, specializing in K-9, SWAT, gang, domestic violence and sex crimes as an investgator. In his book Curbchek, he returns to his hometown as a cop, sure his tactical military training can make a difference. The city has other plans for his idealism. The novel follows his journey into the realities of the street and the officers who work them, the hunters and the hunted jostling for position in the America's urban melting pot. The tension builds as Fortier to make it out alive. His paranoia is he fears he's not paranoid, that the whole world is like this. Endemic to everything, indigenous to nowhere. Zach wrote Curbchek at the suggestion of a reporter who covered the cases as Zach. Names and some minor details have been changed to protect the privacy of those involved, without compromising the integrity of the story and the message of the book.
